Tax residency in French Guiana
For personal income tax purposes, French Guiana forms part of France and the French domestic residency tests apply. An individual is treated as resident if, in the calendar year, at least one of the following is met: having their home (foyer) or principal place of abode in France (including French Guiana)—the home being where the family habitually lives and the principal place of abode being where the individual habitually stays, with presence in France for more than 183 days in the year generally indicating such an abode; carrying on their main professional activity in France (salaried or self‑employed, unless the French activity is merely ancillary); or having the centre of their economic interests in France (principal investments, seat of business affairs, or the primary source/management of income). These tests are alternative, and satisfying any one is sufficient. In addition, officials and agents of the French State or local authorities posted abroad are deemed resident in France if they are not subject in the host country to a personal tax on all of their income.
